About Constipation...

Healthy individuals should have a bowel movement right after every meal.

It is important to have sufficient bowel movements daily to avoid health problems down the track.

We need a constant elimination of toxins. Otherwise, constipation can cause the toxins sitting in the colon to become reabsorbed in the bloodstream and be dumped on the skin which results in various skin conditions.

Foods that commonly cause constipation:

  • White flour – flour can become like a sticky paste in the digestive tract causing slow transit time and other problems such as a leaky gut

  • Pastries, cake, biscuits, muesli bars and desserts

  • Cows milk

  • Overuse of laxatives can make the bowels lazy and worsen constipation later down the track.

Friendly Food for constipation:

  • Raw or juiced carrot – is a powerful cure for constipation

  • Vegetable soups – help to soften the stools to help open bowels

  • Almonds

  • Fresh coconut and coconut water

  • Fresh and dried figs
